Stickers being phased out

Published by TeamInsuranceBrokers on January 22 2016

Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) recently announced that effective March 1, 2016, licence plate validation stickers will no longer be required on Manitoba-registered vehicles.

According to MPI “Police vehicles are now equipped with on-board computers, which allow for real-time validation of a vehicle’s registration status, and now makes the need for licence plate validation stickers unnecessary. To complement these on-board computers, the major police agencies in Manitoba are now using automated licence plate readers. These devices are highly efficient and alert officers immediately if a vehicle’s registration and insurance has lapsed and is invalid.”

We hope that you are as excited as we are to not have to freeze our fingers in our -30 Manitoba winters, while trying and get our stickers to stay on.

Customers who register their vehicles prior to March 1st will still receive validation stickers which are required to be displayed until their next renewal.  Due to the five year renewal system, it will take until March 2021 before the stickers will be completely gone.
