Becoming an Organ Donor Online

Published by TeamInsuranceBrokers on August 08 2016

According to transplant Manitoba “hundreds of Manitobans are currently waiting for kidney, lung, liver, heart and pancreas transplants.  In 2 minutes you could change a life.”

Becoming an organ donor and/or tissue donor in Manitoba has just become easier.  Your decision to register now could one day save up to 8 lives and enhance as many as 75 more.

Manitobans 18 years of age or older can register online to become an organ and tissue donor.

When you register to donate organs and tissue, your donation decision is recorded in a Manitoba Health database. In the event of your death or imminent death, when all life-saving efforts have failed, your donation decision will be disclosed for the purpose of sharing this information with your family so that they can honor your wishes and to medical professionals.

You should register online even if you signed a donor card. A signed donor card is not recorded in the Manitoba Health database and may not be available when needed. Organ and tissue donor intent registration is the only secure and guaranteed way to make your decision to save lives known.
