Service Line Coverage

Published by TeamInsuranceBrokers on February 11 2018

Service Line Coverage protects homeowners against the high cost of replacing or repairing wires and pipes that bring water, sewer, power, heat and other services into their dwelling and detached private structures when accidental damage occurs on the homeowner’s side of the property line.

Many homeowners do not realize that they are responsible for the service lines on their property, which are excluded from coverage on homeowner’s insurance policies unless purchased.

Covered damage includes accidental breakage, leaks, tears, ruptures, collapses, or arcing of wiring. Excavating costs, cost to repair damage to outdoor property and loss of use are extensions of coverage under Service Line Coverage.

Service Line Coverage is sometimes bundled with Sewer Backup Coverage and/or Overland Water Coverage.
